Facilitate a Training With Us
Transformative Therapy Academy is the learning and teaching branch of Transformative Therapy, where we grow our clinical skills and deepen our anti-oppressive practice together. The Academy began when we started seeking out and booking trainings for our clinicians, each one chosen with intention and with both our clients and our therapists in mind. Since 2025, we have averaged 12 training sessions a year. If you have knowledge and skill to share, and a heart for the kind of work we do, we would love to learn from you.
Who We Are Looking For
We welcome facilitators of all backgrounds, and we are especially interested in:
- Clinicians with deep experience in specific therapy modalities
- Professors and educators
- Practitioners grounded in anti-oppressive, liberatory, and justice-based work
- People who bring lived experience alongside professional expertise
- Social justice warriors who have been doing the work in our communities
While it is never a requirement, we strongly encourage BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ facilitators to reach out. You do not need to be a licensed clinician to apply.
What We Love to Learn
Our team is hungry to grow. We are especially excited about trainings that teach us new therapy modalities, sharpen our clinical interventions, and deepen our anti-oppressive lens. We want trainings that are real and practical, not performative, and that leave our therapists with skills they can use the very next day.
Some areas we are always glad to explore:
- Specific modalities and how to apply them, such as Play Therapy, EMDR, IFS, DBT, ACT, somatic approaches, and narrative therapy
- Skilled, hands-on interventions for working with trauma, anxiety, grief, and complex presentations
- Working with couples and families through an affirming, anti-oppressive lens
- Anti-oppressive practice as an applied framework, not just a concept, including how power, privilege, and social location show up in the therapy room
- Cultural humility and naming our own biases, thought patterns, and language
- Decolonizing our clinical frameworks and questioning the institutionalized models we were trained in
- Affirming care for LGBTQIA2S+ clients, including trans and nonbinary, intersex, and two-spirit experiences
- Working with neurodivergent clients in ways that honor how they actually move through the world
- Racial trauma, historical and intergenerational trauma, and pathways to healing and empowerment
- Addressing microaggressions and inadvertent harm within the therapeutic relationship
- Supporting clients navigating ableism, transphobia, and other intersecting systems of oppression
If you have an idea that is not on this list, we want to hear it. The best trainings often come from a facilitator’s own passion.
When We Meet
Our live virtual trainings are held on Thursdays from 12 pm to 2pm. Some virtual trainings will be selected to be offered on our on-demand platform, if the trainer desires.
What You Earn
